Barefoot Recipe is the home of the Barefoot Chef — a YouTuber, homebrewer, and home cook specializing in Southeast and East Asian food. The site documents recipes I cook at home, ferments and brews I make in my own kitchen, and dishes I've encountered while travelling.
The name comes from cooking the way people actually do at home — unfussy, hands-on, and without fancy equipment. Most recipes here use ingredients you can find in a regular supermarket or Asian grocer, and every ferment has been made in a home setup, not a commercial one.
Every recipe on this site is one I have personally cooked, eaten, and adjusted until it works in a home kitchen. Where a traditional ingredient is hard to find, I list practical substitutes I have tested. Where I'm sharing a fermentation or brew, I share the exact timings, temperatures, and signs of success or failure that I look for myself.
